This "Shooting for Scholars" Basketball Challenge is more than just a game; it is a community-wide investment in the future of the region's youth.

The fundraiser features a spirited "Teacher vs. Student" basketball game designed to raise scholarship funds for graduating high school seniors.

To ensure these students are fully prepared for the next chapter, HELPS Outreach will also host the Shooting for Scholars Educational Workshop. This workshop will provide hands-on help for students and parents navigating the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and specialized tutorials on crafting winning college essays.

"Our mission is to provide the stability and empowerment necessary for our youth to see a brighter future," says Ghandi Daniels, board president of HELPS Outreach. "By combining the excitement of a community basketball game with the practical tools of a college-readiness workshop, we are helping our scholars shoot for—and reach—their highest educational goals."

HELPS Outreach is currently seeking "buy-in" and partnerships from local high schools across the three-county area. Schools that participate will see their students directly benefit from the scholarship pool and the free educational resources provided.

“We want to bridge the gap between high school graduation and college enrollment,” Vice President and scholarship program coordinator Tara Marlow  added. “In Montgomery, Bullock, and Macon counties, there is so much talent. HELPS Outreach is here to provide the power and the hope to turn that talent into a degree.”

Event Highlights:

  • The Game: A fun, competitive showdown between local faculty and students.

  • The Scholarships: Proceeds directly support seniors in Montgomery, Bullock, and Macon counties.

  • The Workshop: Expert guidance on FAFSA completion and college essay strategies.

Details regarding the date, time, and ticket prices will be announced shortly. Schools interested in participating or businesses looking for sponsorship opportunities are encouraged to visit [Website URL] or contact [Phone Number].
